This is a lab assignment on how to create a HTML5.

 

Lab 1 group assignment

Exercise 1: Host IP configuration.

Exercise 2: Network configuration and connection status.

1. Ping your own host.

2. Ping your neighbor on the same subnet.

3.  Ping one host on a different subnet.

4. Ping a host that is shut down (20.20.20.20)

2. Use >nslookup to query different hosts and fill up Table 3.

Q1.What is the difference between IP address and MAC address?

A1.

-IP address or Internet Protocol address is the address assigned to your mobile,printer or computer by the network that uses Internet protocol for communication .

-Mac address is your machine address . This address will never change . It is the unique machine address given to your device . Your device will have communication with the local area network or any network using this address .

-The difference between IP address and MAC address is that the IP address can change with the change in network, but MAC address is the machine unique address that will never change.

Q2.What does lease obtained and lease expired means?

A2.

~ Lease can be said as a contract for a specified time. For a computer to be able to connect to the network, it require an IP address.The IP address is given by DHCP ( dynamic host configuration protocol) server after receiving the requests. This is called lease. The lease obtained will be expired and must be renewed so that the computer can continue to connect to the network. So, it means that DHCP server lease an IP address to the target, but the lease will expired and must be renewed, where lease obtained will shows the time lease obtained, and lease expired shows the time that lease expired.

Q3.What is the IP address for localhost?

A3 

~ In computer networking, localhost is the host name that means this computer. Usually the IP address for local host is always set as 127.0.0.1.

~ Localhost is a registered name on the Internet, specifically the web, that is specially reserved for a singular purpose as a localhost, to prevent confusion. It is used to identify the devices across the webs. It make connecting to local servers, such as in a Local Area Network, extremely efficient by routing traffic through the address, allowing a direct route to any service on the server, as opposed to specifying a specific route for each service, and also makes it easier to access via the web with its dedicated,registered domain name.

After this lesson , we found out that how to obtain IP address in LAN, physical address(MAC address), subnet mask, the DHCP server that provide the IP address of a host computer and default gateway IP address by using command prompt.
